ODYSSEUS
an original rock opera

Music and Lyrics by Clifford J. Tasner
Staging by Suzanne von Eck

Concept Sketches by Roger Hanna

Based on Homer's Odyssey, the show follows the adventures of Odysseus and his quest for the land and the woman he loves. Featuring a cast of 16, this rock opera draws on many different styles of music and has roots in blues, funk and gospel.

"Odysseus is a tale about a hero who is able to transcend society and survive nature as he matures into a man who is capable of loving. He leaves his wife and his home to be a warrior, becomes a bandit, takes drugs, defeats horrendous monsters, makes love to goddesses, descends to the underworld, and survives perils that kill off all of his comrades, yet it is essentially a love story: Penelope knew what she'd lost when her man left her for the war; Odysseus only realizes what he'd left behind midway in his journey and he spends the remainder of his voyage striving to return and claim that glorious love."
